Product History

The Amodex Evolution

Amodex was originally formulated in 1958 to remove inks, dye, and other stubborn stains from hands. Lab tests and customer feedback soon revealed that the same formula was highly effective on fabrics as well.

By the early 1970s, Amodex Hand Cleaner evolved into Amodex Stain Remover for Hands & Fabrics. Its uses expanded to tackle everyday household stains—think mustard, ketchup, wine, tomato sauce, salad dressing, blood, grease, grass, and more.

In the early 1990s, Amodex gained recognition as the world’s go-to stain remover for all inks, including permanent markers like Sharpie®, whiteboard markers like Expo®, and others. The product was renamed Amodex Ink & Stain Remover and is known for its unique, non-toxic cream formula—safe on fabrics, upholstery, carpets, and even skin.

From impossible Georgia red clay to machine oil, baby formula, antique linens, or permanent marker on CDs, Amodex has become a trusted solution for stains big and small.
