Master Instructions for Set-In & Stubborn Stains

💡 Pro Tip for Maximum Effectiveness: For tough or old stains, increase Amodex's effectiveness by allowing the solution to remain on the stain for 1 to 12 hours (use your discretion) before laundering.

Why Amodex Works Differently Than Other Stain Removers

Unlike traditional stain removers, Amodex is a specialized soap, not a solvent. Because it contains no harsh chemicals or solvents, it will not dry out, evaporate, or damage fabrics. It can sit indefinitely on a stain safely. Leaving Amodex to dwell on a stain for hours is exactly what sets it apart from other products, allowing it to naturally break down and lift stains that nothing else can touch.

How to Repeat Applications for Stubborn Stains

As long as a stain lightens after a long application, the formula is working. You can safely repeat the application process multiple times to completely draw the remaining pigment out of the material.

Avoid "Elbow Grease" (Let the Soap Do the Work)

Do not scrub aggressively. You only need to gently work Amodex into the stained area for about one minute.

  • If you need immediate results: Continuously work the product into the stain with a soft brush or cloth until it disappears.
  • If you have time: Gently apply, work it in for a minute, and allow it to sit for as long as needed.

Expert Troubleshooting & Helpful Hints

To ensure the best possible results when using Amodex, keep these essential family secrets and chemical facts in mind:

⚠️ Rule #1: Never Wet the Stain First
Do not apply water or any other cleaning agent prior to using Amodex. Water and traditional detergents can permanently set a stain into the fibers, making it significantly harder to remove. Using alcohol or hairspray on an ink mark will only serve to set the dye. However, don't give up hope! Even if you have already tried another product, Amodex remains your best bet to safely salvage the item.

  • Check First for Colorfastness: Due to the vast variety of chemical dyes used on modern fabrics—especially leather and delicate apparel—we strongly advise testing Amodex on a small, hidden, or inconspicuous area first.
  • Persistent & Stubborn Stains: If a tough stain doesn't disappear on the first try, don't worry. If you apply Amodex to stubborn stains on garments or linens each time before you launder them, the soap will continually break down the bond, and the stain will eventually lighten or disappear completely.
  • The Berry Stain Chemical Reaction: When Amodex interacts with berry stains, it is completely normal for the stain to temporarily turn blue! This is a standard natural chemical reaction. Simply continue working the Amodex into the stain, and it will disappear.
  • The Lacquer Challenge: Inks containing specialized industrial chemicals, such as lacquer, present a unique challenge. The lacquer dries to create a plastic-like seal over the pigment that is extremely difficult to penetrate. Persistent, repeated applications are required to safely break through this barrier.

─── FABRIC & SURFACE SOLUTIONS ───

How to Pre-Treat Stains on Washable Clothing

Use this method for everyday garments, school uniforms, jeans, and laundry-safe fabrics before putting them in the washing machine.

  • Step 1: Apply a few drops of Amodex Ink & Stain Remover directly to the dry stain. Do not wet the fabric first.
  • Step 2: Gently rub the solution into the fabric using an old toothbrush or your fingernail.
  • Step 3: Watch the stain carefully. When the stain has faded and is approximately 75% lighter, add the garment directly into your regular laundry load.
  • Step 4: Launder normally according to the garment's care label.

How to Spot Remove Stains on Dry Cleanable Garments

Safe for delicate, dry-clean-only apparel. Always test a small, inconspicuous area for colorfastness first.

Safe for delicate, dry-clean-only apparel. Always test a small, inconspicuous area for colorfastness first.

  • Step 1: Apply a few drops of Amodex directly onto the stained area. Do not wet the fabric first.
  • Step 2: Rub the solution in gently using an old toothbrush or your fingernail.
  • Step 3: Continue rubbing the stained area continuously until the stain completely disappears. Be careful not to rub too aggressively on delicate fabric weaves.
  • Step 4: Carefully rinse the fabric with clean water to remove the soap residue.

How to Clean Stains from Upholstery, Carpets, and Draperies

Perfect for living room furniture, car interiors, rugs, and heavy curtains where full washing isn't an option.

  • Step 1: Apply a few drops of Amodex directly to the carpet or upholstery stain.
  • Step 2: Rub the formula thoroughly into the fibers using your included Amodex brush, a standard toothbrush, or a clean cloth.
  • Step 3: Continue working the area until the stain lifts and disappears, taking care not to damage delicate surfaces.
  • Step 4: Rinse the area thoroughly with clean water. (Pro Tip: For small areas, we advise using a spray bottle filled with clean water to control the moisture).

Troubleshooting Yellow Residue: Occasionally, it can be difficult to completely rinse deep carpet piles or thick upholstery. If you see a yellow tint later, do not panic—it is simply dried Amodex soap residue. Simply rinse the area again thoroughly with clean water and allow it to air dry.

Safe Ink & Stain Removal for Leather (Including Auto Upholstery)

Amodex is safe for genuine leather jackets, couches, purses, and automotive leather seating.

  • Step 1: Apply a small amount of Amodex directly to the stained leather.
  • Step 2: Gently scrape the Amodex into the stain using your fingernail (avoid sharp tools or stiff brushes that can scratch the leather finish).
  • Step 3: Continue rubbing gently until the ink or stain completely disappears.
  • Step 4: Wipe the area completely clean with a fresh, damp rag.

Advanced Instructions for Heavy Ink Stains & Exploding Pens

Follow these specific instructions for large ink leaks, exploding pens, or deep pigment stains.

  • Step 1: Place a clean paper towel directly underneath the stained layer of fabric to catch the bleeding ink.
  • Step 2: Apply Amodex generously to the ink stain. DO NOT WET THE FABRIC FIRST.
  • Step 3: Gently rub the area with a toothbrush or your fingernail.
  • Step 4: As the ink begins to dissolve and transfer onto the paper towel underneath, continuously move the paper towel to a clean, fresh area. Continue working the stained area until no more ink appears on the paper towel.
  • Step 5: Rinse the area thoroughly under a faucet using warm water.

Note: Well-set or old ink marks may require a second application. Follow the same steps again.

Safe Stain Removal for Hands and Skin

Because Amodex is completely non-toxic and eco-friendly, it is entirely safe to use directly on skin to remove grease, dyes, hair dye, and ink.

  • Step 1: Apply several drops of Amodex directly onto your dry skin, or apply it to a washcloth. (Crucial Note: Never wet the stain on your skin before applying Amodex).
  • Step 2: Rub the stained skin area thoroughly. If using the Amodex applicator brush, simply rub the stained area with the brush until all marks are gone.
  • Step 3: Rinse completely with warm water or wipe the residue off cleanly with a cloth or towel.

Hard Surface Cleaning & Removing Wax

Use this method for general hard surfaces or to lift dried candle wax and cleaning wax.

  • For General Surfaces: Apply Amodex to the surface, rub it in well with a rag, and wipe clean with a damp rag.
  • For Tough Build-up: Coat the surface and leave it overnight, then wipe clean with a damp rag.

How to Remove Permanent Marker, SHARPIE®, & EXPO®

Amodex is the leading industry-recommended solution for permanent marker removal. Do not wet the area before application.

  • Fabric & Clothing: Apply Amodex, rub well with a stiff brush or fingernail until the ink is nearly gone, then rinse or launder.
  • Walls & Woodwork: Apply a thin coat and rub in using a DRY Mr. Clean Eraser®. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
  • Plastic, Stone & Porous Surfaces: Apply a thin, even coat. Leave it on for several hours or overnight to draw out embedded ink. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
  • Metal, Glass & Non-Porous Surfaces: Apply Amodex to a clean rag, rub the stain firmly, and wipe clean with a damp cloth.
  • Whiteboard “Ghosting”: Apply a thin layer, let it sit for a few minutes, rub gently, and wipe clean.

─── SPECIALTY MARKER & INK SOLUTIONS ───

To Remove Markers from Walls & Woodwork

Safe for painted drywall, wood trim, paneling, and finished wood furniture.

  • Step 3: Wipe the surface completely clean with a fresh, damp cloth.

How to Remove WHITEBOARD & SMARTBOARD “Ghosting!”

Restore classroom and boardroom boards back to a clean finish when dry-erase markers leave permanent stains.

  • Step 1: Apply a thin layer of Amodex across the ghosted ink marks.
  • Step 2: Let it sit for a few minutes to break down the shadows.
  • Step 3: Rub gently with a soft cloth or paper towel, then wipe the board clean.

How to Remove Candle or Cleaning Wax

Safe for fabrics and hard surfaces where wax has spilled and dried.

  • Step 1: Scrape off any excess surface wax gently.
  • Step 2: Apply Amodex directly to the remaining wax residue.
  • Step 3: Rub the solution into the surface to break down the wax compounds, then rinse or wipe clean with a damp cloth.
